Gurbaksh Chahal had a humble beginning where he belonged to a typical Punjabi family, but he was determined to break the stereotypes. Born on 17th July 1982 in Punjab, India, Gurbaksh moved to San Jose California with his parents and brother during childhood. Chahal had always been very ambitious and his firm belief in his dreams and aspirations led him to drop out of the school. He pursued his dream of having a career in the first wave of the dot-com boom. Though his parents wanted him to become a Doctor and excel in academics, Chahal was meant to be different and carve a niche for himself.

The two companies owned by him were BlueLithium and ClickAgents. He, later on, sold the former to Yahoo and came up with two more companies in the online advertising industry.
